Being helpful and supportive to others by volunteering, learning new skills and gaining qualifications can improve your own health and the wellbeing of others.

Level 1 and Level 2 Basketball Coaching and Activator Courses

Enjoy playing basketball? Want to get involved in training qualifications that allow you to coach basketball?

The Young People’s Healthy Hub is looking to support young people to complete Level 1 (16+) and Level 2 (18+) coaching qualification in basketball.

We also want to support young people in becoming basketball activators (14+).

NHS Cadets

From September 2020, 14 to16 year olds across Hertfordshire will be able to take part in a valuable volunteer programme.

The NHS Cadets programme is run by YC Hertfordshire on behalf of NHS England and NHS Improvement.

What will the volunteers be doing?

During the next three months, volunteers will learn about:

  • Health - public, personal, community health, mental wellbeing, mental illness, CBT and other wellbeing tools.
  • Food - how to cook, shopping on a budget, storing and growing food.
  • Money - personal banking, credit, budgeting and saving.
  • Goals - how to plan to achieve your goals.

NCS Programme

Stevenage Football Foundation's NCS (National Citizen Service) programme aims at developing the life skills of 15 to 17-year-olds.

The NCS programme is structured in phases with the first phase being activities such as rock-climbing and abseiling. The last phase is a graduation ceremony.

Those taking part are encouraged to meet new people and develop skills in leadership, communication and confidence. These skills are showcased in the Social Action Project phase of the programme where participants give back to the community.

Kicks Online Learning

Are you aged 8 to 18 and want to learn something new? Stevenage FC Foundation are offering free qualifications including coaching (14+), healthy lifestyle, and refereeing. The sessions are on Thursdays at 5pm live on Zoom.

NYSA

NYSA are Kerry Lanigan and Hannah Blunden, local artists from Watford who deliver art workshops. NYSA Workshops can be designed and tailored to suit the individual that wants to attend.

Groundwork East

Get involved in the Future Proof with the Friends of Norton Common in Letchworth. This programme offers training and volunteering sessions for people aged between 13 and 24, enhancing their connection with their local Green Space.

Online training sessions cover topics such as event planning, conservation and digital marketing and more.

Volunteering sessions vary from tree planting, carrying out wildlife surveys, running events and more.
