Green Space Volunteers
What do Green Space Volunteers do?
Green Space Volunteers help to undertake improvement works to community green spaces around the town. There will be opportunities to help out at different types of green space including parks, woodlands and ponds.
Work may include woodland ride maintenance and coppicing, bulb planting, ecological surveys, improvements to ponds and the installation of bird and bat boxes.
How much time do I need to give?
Volunteers are welcome to attend for as much or as little time as they can afford. Whether you have one hour or four hours, everybody’s help is welcomed and valued.
Activities normally take place at weekends, although there may be some opportunity for mid-week volunteering.
What skills or experience do I need?
We encourage and welcome people from all sectors of our community to volunteer and no previous experience is required. You just need to enjoy working in the outdoors and want to make a difference to the town.
If you have any particular skills, experience and knowledge that you think might be useful, please let us know as we may be able to develop new volunteering opportunities.
All volunteering sessions are supervised by a suitably qualified member of our staff or one of our partners who will provide support and training throughout the activity.
