Climate Change Community Fund (CCCF) Application Guidance
The Climate Change Community Fund (CCCF) provides a total of £97,500, which is available for environmental community projects in Stevenage that address climate change and its effects. If you have an idea for a project with a positive impact to the local natural environment which aids climate change mitigation or adaptation, this fund could provide financial help to get your project off the ground.

Before you begin you should always contact one of your local ward councillors. It will be beneficial to know how your project will benefit their ward or areas. If you want to find out who your local Councillor is, you can use the find your Local Councillor search.
Application terms and conditions
- The recipient is applying on behalf of an eligible group which has an organisational bank account, separate to any corporate activities, if applicable.
- The recipient agrees to retain proof of any labour or items purchased with Climate Change Community Fund (CCCF) grant money should they be the recipient of any sum.
- The recipient agrees to purchase the necessary project items, as outlined within their cost breakdown and approximate timescales, within three months of disbursement.
- The recipient agrees to provide monitoring updates, including progress pictures and pictures of completion, to the relevant council officer(s) upon request.
- The recipient acknowledges that the minimum grant amount that can be awarded is £250, subject to ward funding availability and approval.
- The recipient acknowledges that the maximum grant amount that can be awarded is £7500, subject to ward funding availability and approval.
- The recipient agrees to conduct any necessary community consultations for the proposed project.
- The recipient acknowledges that any photos provided to the Council can be used for marketing purposes.
- The recipient acknowledges that the sustainability and environmental benefits of the project will be evaluated by the relevant Council officer(s) upon submission, and any necessary conditions may be agreed accordingly.
Disclaimer
Retrospective applications cannot be accepted. The fund cannot be used to apply for projects that have already been completed.
Existing projects that have received a previous CCCF grant(s) and who wish to expand their scheme are able to reapply for funding.
The grant cannot be used for anything that is illegal or contrary to Stevenage Borough Council’s policies.
Please note, in accepting a Climate Change Community Fund grant, Stevenage Borough Council require you to operate in accordance with current legislation. This includes Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Financial regulations. You are required to spend your grant in line with your application.
What happens after I apply?
After submitting your application, you will receive an email to your registered email address with a copy of your application. We will endeavour to process your application within four to six weeks, although sometimes this may take longer. You will be contacted by a Council officer regarding the outcome of your application using the email address provided.
Please note that you are not guaranteed a grant purely by applying, even if you have been asked to apply. Please do not enter into any financial commitments until you have received your grant.
Monitoring and auditing
Monitoring updates, such as progress pictures and pictures of completion, may be periodically requested by the relevant council officer(s) throughout the duration of the awarded project. Applicants are required to retain all receipts relating to the awarded grant.
Monitoring updates should be provided within four weeks once requested. Failure to respond to any monitoring update requests will exclude organisations or groups from applying for any future funding from the Climate Change Community Fund.
