Old Town Parking
Free on-street parking spaces are available on the High Street and adjacent roads:
- Bell Lane
- Church Lane
- Drapers Way
- Primett Road
These locations are well placed for visitors who want to visit the shops, cafés, restaurants and amenities. Five dedicated disabled parking spaces are available on the High Street.
Please note: For all free parking spaces there is a 'no return within 4 hours' restriction (except for vehicles displaying a valid blue badge).
These parking bays are clearly marked with appropriate road markings and the restrictions are visibly displayed on existing parking signs.
Maximum stay 3 hours, no return within 4 hours
- High Street (section south of its junction with Letchmore Road and Stanmore Road)
- Walkern Road (section between its junction with Church Lane and High Street)
- Primett Road
- Drapers Way
Maximum stay 2 hours, no return within 4 hours
- High Street (section north of its junction with Drapers Way)
- Bell Lane
- Basils Road (section between its junctions with Church Lane and High Street)
These restrictions have been put in place to encourage drivers not to stay for longer than they need, so that it’s easier for others to find a space as there is a high demand for on-street parking in this area.
If you need to park your vehicle for longer period of time please use off-street car parks situated in near the High Street such as Primett Road or Church Lane.
You can find car parks in the old town by visiting our 'find a car park' pages which you can filter for the old town.
