“It is with great sadness I share the news that Cllr Graham Snell passed away unexpectedly on 15 November 2024. Graham was a Stevenage Borough Councillor for over 25 years continuously from 1998, firstly for the former Mobbsbury Ward and then, from 1999 for Manor Ward.

“Graham was a Member on Planning and Development, Environment and Economy as well as Licensing Committee and General Purposes Committee. He was also a dedicated member of the Stevenage Kadoma Link Association.

“Graham was a proactive councillor who worked hard on behalf of his ward to represent the views of his residents and Manor Ward community. He was well liked and worked with other members of the Council for the benefit of Stevenage too.

“On behalf of the council, I would like to share my condolences with his family and friends at this very difficult time.”

Cllr Richard Henry, Leader of Stevenage Borough Council.

Councillor Stephen Booth, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, said, "Graham's death came so suddenly and unexpectedly. It really was a bolt from the blue and left us all struggling to grasp its impact.

Graham's voice in council affairs was always quiet but authoritative, playing a leading role on the Planning & Development Committee.

Behind the scenes he played a much more visible role as Chair of our local party. We shall miss his wise counsel and thoughtful contributions.

I would like to thank members for the kind words about Graham from members across the chamber and especially from Baroness Taylor.

We know his family will be bereft at this shocking news and especially his triplet girl grandchildren, upon whom he doted. Our thoughts are with them at this time."
