Swingate House: Update from Stevenage Borough Council and Development Partner Mace
On Tuesday 22 March, during the planned demolition of Swingate House, the structure partially collapsed. The contractor, developer and local authority would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the teams involved including Stevenage Police and the Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service who assisted in the multi-agency incident response. There were no injuries caused by the collapse. The Health and Safety Executive will lead an investigation into the incident and all parties will be fully supporting this.
We are pleased to confirm that the surrounding roads and car parks are open as usual, and that the contractor Kane is continuing works on the demolition of the building behind the hoarding lines.
Our thanks are extended to the neighbouring residents and businesses who worked with us so collaboratively during the incident.
