Stevenage Old Town “Follow the Star” Christmas Trail
Small Business Saturday take place on Saturday 7 December 2024 across the UK.
The council in partnership with Stevenage Old Town Business and Community Partnership is supporting the Stevenage Old Town “Follow the Star” Christmas Trail. This initiative is designed to help residents and visitors discover the great products and services that are available in our High Street.
This year’s Stevenage Old Town “Follow the Star” Christmas Trail is an enchanting event running from 30 November until Christmas Eve. Participants are invited to explore the charming streets and shop windows of Stevenage Old Town, where 20 Sparkling Stars are hidden, and this is a great way for residents and visitors to shop local and support the town’s retailers during the festive season.
The launch of the trail will take place during the Old Town Christmas Lights Switch on Saturday 30 November, alongside an array of festive activities. To date, over 20 businesses are taking part in the “Follow the Star”, Christmas Trail initiative and this will bring more visitors and customers to Stevenage’s high street.
As one of Hertfordshire’s most attractive and quintessentially British High Streets, the Historic Stevenage Old Town, High Street provides an attractive destination to visit. It continues to provide a vast range of professional, unique retail and personal care services, an arts and leisure offering and a gastronome of food and drink for all connoisseurs. There's a superb boutique hotel, oozing with vintage charm.
During December, the council will also support Christmas Trails and Grottos in both the Glebe and The Hyde neighbourhood centres.
Councillor Lloyd Briscoe, Portfolio Holder for Economy, Skills, and Transport at Stevenage Borough Council said, “We recognise our small businesses make a vast contribution to our local community here in Stevenage by providing goods, services, and employment for local people. I am delighted the council can support an array of activities to highlight their local presence across the town.
“I would like to encourage both residents and businesses to continue to support your local businesses this festive season and in the coming new year. Our High Street provides a superb location to meet, socialise and be entertained, as well as shop and build relationships.”
Small Business Saturday is a grassroots and non-commercial campaign focused on highlighting small business success and promoting local and independent businesses.
