Stevenage Borough Council response to civil unrest
Stevenage Borough Council sends its thoughts and prayers to all those who have been affected by the civil unrest which has taken place across the country in recent days.
We would like to reassure Stevenage residents and businesses that we are continuing to work closely with Hertfordshire Police and other key partners, including Hertfordshire County Council, to include monitoring social media and other communication channels for any potential local threats.
In the unfortunate event that any civil unrest occurs, the police will respond as swiftly as possible along with other emergency services.
If you see or hear anything suspicious, please report it to the police immediately. In an emergency, dial 999. For non-emergency matters, call 101. This will help the police to take appropriate action if required.

Cllr Richard Henry, Leader of Stevenage Borough Council, said: “I have been deeply concerned by the unrest that the country has been experiencing, but was heartened to see local communities uniting across the country last night in response to the threats of disorder. We condemn the violent actions carried out in previous days elsewhere, and confirm that we will not tolerate any such activity within our borough. We must continue to work together to ensure that everyone feels safe and respected. I would urge local residents and businesses to follow guidance set out by the police in relation to reporting any disinformation.”
