Pop-up art gallery comes to Stevenage
Local artists can now showcase their artwork, thanks to a new pop-up art gallery in Stevenage.
The former McDonald’s unit in the town centre will be home to the temporary gallery for four weeks. The Shooting Gallery has been organised by artists Phil Bruce and Ryan Moore, with support from Stevenage Borough Council.
An official launch event took place on Saturday (30 August).
The gallery will showcase work from professional and semi-professional artists, as well as local amateur work. There will be regular workshops and live performances. Graffiti artists will also do live creations in and around the gallery site.
Councillor Loraine Rossati, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Wellbeing, said:
“The Shooting Gallery pop-up will give artists and creatives the chance to see their work displayed in a real gallery.
“Art is for everybody, and we want to create a welcoming environment that brings joy, curiosity and that unleashes people's creativity. As well as experiencing other people's art, residents will have opportunities to attend live performances and get involved with workshops. I can't wait!"
“We’re looking forward to seeing this empty unit become a hub of creativity over the next four weeks.”
The gallery is open Wednesday – Sunday.
