Hertfordshire Climate Change & Sustainability Partnership Wins National Award
The Hertfordshire Climate Change & Sustainability Partnership (HCCSP) has been recognised for its pioneering work in helping residents retrofit their homes with energy-saving measures, including solar panel installations and improved access to retrofit information. The Partnership was awarded Gold in the Green Public Service Award at the iESE Public Transformation Awards 2025 on 5 March.
HCCSP was commended for its collaborative model, demonstrating how public services can deliver measurable sustainability outcomes—from financial efficiencies to significant carbon reductions. The Partnership has strengthened Hertfordshire’s ability to tackle climate challenges through a multi-sector approach, engaging key stakeholders across property, planning, resilience, and public health, as well as working beyond the public sector’s traditional boundaries to include retrofit installers and further education providers.
The Chair of HCCSP said: “As we enter our fifth year, we are honoured to be recognised for bringing together so many partners across the region. While individuals and households can take action to support a sustainable future, our impact is far greater when we work together. HCCSP is demonstrating this through initiatives like Solar Together, which has helped over 1,600 homes install solar panels at discounted prices, unlocking more than £17 million in private investment in renewable energy. Our home retrofit guide also provides clear, practical steps for residents to improve energy efficiency in their homes and communities.”
HCCSP’s work is helping to prevent further climate impacts while ensuring Hertfordshire residents and businesses can rapidly adapt.
The award also serves as a fitting recognition for Matt Partridge, CEO of Stevenage Council, who has led the Partnership at an officer level and is now retiring. His leadership has played a crucial role in shaping HCCSP’s success, and the Partnership looks forward to continuing this vital agenda under the leadership of Donna Nolan, Chief Executive of Watford Borough Council.
