Cllr Richard Henry, Leader of Stevenage Borough Council said,

“There’s been a lot of speculation on the government’s white paper on Local Government and Devolution. My priority, and that of this council is to do all we can to make Stevenage even better. This means working to build more council homes, regenerate the town, create jobs, and leisure facilities for people to enjoy.

“Following today’s announcement, we will need some time to take stock to see if the White Paper can help us to achieve our goals to make Stevenage a place for everyone. However, when there are challenges in our community through the cost-of-living crisis, it is vital we do not lose focus and continue to improve our town and achieve our ambitions for Stevenage.”
