In December 2024 the council completed the programme to refurbish council owned garages across the town. Whilst not all the garages were included in the scheme, it saw improvement work carried out to a vast amount of the stock.

The work carried out varied from block to block however the main elements that were included in the work consisted of:

  • Roofs,
  • garage doors,
  • structural repairs and alterations,
  • external redecoration,
  • door numbering,
  • block signage,
  • concrete hard standings and
  • solar lighting.

Work was undertaken to 106 garage blocks including (but not limited to):

  • Southend Close
  • Marymead Drive
  • Brook Drive
  • Burydale
  • Valley Way
  • Spring Drive
  • Ridlins End
  • Fallowfield
  • Harefield
  • The Muntings
  • Yarmouth Road
  • Peartree Way
  • Wigram Way
  • Elbow Lane
  • Park View
  • Angle Ways
  • Buckthorn Avenue
  • Elm Walk
  • Gonville Crescent
  • Grace Way
  • Leslie Close
  • Shephall Green
  • Sisson Close (New Build)
  • Scarborough Avenue
  • Collenswood Road
  • Mackenzie Square

We will be contacting garage licensees, owners and local residents at least one month before any work starts on a particular block.
