Applications to shoot films and productions in Stevenage
We welcome applications to film in the town and will assist wherever we can to make your shoot a smooth and successful operation.
This guidance sets out the application process for both small-scale and major productions. Please note that we can only grant permission on land or property that we own.
Each application will need to consider the impact to local services, residents, businesses, commuters and emergency accesses. If specific groups are likely to be affected by the filming, a stakeholder communications plan will be required before your application is approved.
Previous shoots
The Hertfordshire area is home to a thriving film and television sector and the Stevenage area has featured in a number of previous productions. These include Eyes Wide Shut starring Tom Cruise, the Spy Game with Robert Redford and Brad Pitt, The Big Sleep with James Stewart and Robert Mitchum as well as television dramas Poirot, Inspector Morse and Foyle’s War.
Stevenage is both an established, ancient location with the old A1 running north through the old part of town and a new town built up from 1946 to 1980. We have a number of locations available including streetscapes, a new bus interchange, a post-war town centre, high rise apartment blocks, an industrial estate, parks, woodland and lakes. In addition, we are less than 29 miles from London and very close to other locations that have featured in many films and music videos include Knebworth House and Hatfield House.
