Traffic Management Act 2004
Changes in traffic management and parking enforcement comes into effect from 31st March 2008.
On 31st March 2008 the Road Traffic Act 1991 was replaced with Part 6 of the Traffic Management Act 2004. This made certain changes to the way we enforce parking restrictions including the penalty charges in the Borough.
Parking Attendants are now referred to as Civil Enforcement Officers and there are two different levels of Penalty Charge Notices.
There is a higher charge of £70 for more serious offences such as parking on double yellow lines and lower charge of £50 for lesser offences such as overstaying in a bay where parking is permitted.
A discount of 50% applies if payment is made within 14 days of the date of issue but costs will increase if the Penalty Charge Notice is not paid.
See the link below for the penalty charge levels for parking contraventions.
