Parking Enforcement

Pay your fine online and information about parking enforcement, penalty charges, our aims and civil enforcement officers.

The Council, working in partnership with East Herts Council and Apcoa Parking Services, is responsible for the enforcement of parking restrictions in the town.

The councils’ aims are:

Civil Enforcement Officers, in Stevenage, wear a distinctive uniform and, therefore, have a recognisable presence, particularly in the Town Centre and Old Town.  In addition to enforcement, they are able to report street crime and anti-social behaviour via a communication link to the CCTV control room.  This helps make the streets of Stevenage safer.

They have the power to issue tickets that carry a fine.

These tickets are known as Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) and are issued for parking contraventions that take place on the street. For example:

PCN's carry a penalty charge of £70 or£50 dependent on the severity of the offence.

However, if payment is made within 14 days, the charge is reduced by 50%.

Whilst parking restrictions are to be enforced by the Council, moving traffic offences and vehicular obstruction of the highway remain the responsibility of the Police.

The laws surrounding Parking Offences is changing at the end of March for more information see the link below:
