Emergency planning
The Council works closely with other agencies and organisations in developing effective contingency and response plans. The Council's Emergency Plan sets out the information procedures and details required to ensure an effective flexible and timely response to a major emergency.
Flooding of roads, highways, drains and gullies
Routine ditch and gully emptying is usually performed on an annual basis. Emergency clearance of ditches, gullies and drains when flooding of roads or pavements is occurring is a service provided by Hertfordshire County Council, the highway authority.
Major emergency incident
As a local authority it is the Council's role to support the emergency services in the case of a major incident. We are on call 24 hours a day and will coordinate the Council's response activities during a major incident.
Out of hours environmental health complaints
The Council does not currently operate a 24 hour call out service for environmental health complaints. An environmental health officer can be contacted in an emergency - for example, where there is an imminent risk of public safety.
