'I suppose really everything started for me in 1956/57 with Lonnie Donegan and bands of his nature...'
... which influenced everybody here. In fact the first group I did join was a Skiffle group which consisted of a tea chest and a broom handle, a scrub board and a couple of cheap guitars. And we formed a group called the Liners and our first public appearance as a Skiffle group was with several other groups at Barclay School in I think it was 1958. And Chas McDevitt and Nancy Whisky was the judges on that night and we come third even. And Cliff Richard also appeared there on that night with his group from Cheshunt, but not as Cliff Richard is today, I mean he was just a guitarist in the group and we beat him, which was quite good.
