The Council and its committees meet regularly to consider, and make decisions, on issues that are presented to them

Category Items

  • Area Committees

    Terms of reference for the committees and the wards that they cover. Each Area Committee’s role is to identify and meet the needs of the community in the local area, using its budget in consultation with local people to meet local needs.

  • Council

    There are six Full Council meetings a year, held once every two months. All 39 Councillors meet together as the Council to agree Council Policy and set the Council Budget each year.

  • Executive

    The Executive is responsible for most of the Council’s day-to-day decisions. The Executive meets once a month and is made up of 10 Councillors.

  • Planning and Development Committee

    The Planning and Development Committee considers all major planning applications submitted to the Council. Details of each agenda will appear here five working days before the day of the meeting.

  • Regulatory and Other Committees

    These committees are required by law to oversee specific functions of the Council, such as the issuing of licenses.

  • Scrutiny Overview Committee

    The Scrutiny Overview Committee reviews the decisions that the Executive are going to be making in the future via the Rolling Programme (Forward Plan).

  • Schedule of meetings

  • Rolling Programme of Key Decisions

    Also known as the Forward Plan, the Rolling Programme contains information about issues on which the Council will be making a decision in the future

  • Constitution

    The Constitution which sets out how the Council operates, how decisions are made and the procedures which are followed to ensure that these are efficient, transparent and accountable to local people
